While the Barbers were here, Seth and I started an interesting conversation that will last a few years (decades) I suspect.
It's about his birth mom.
And him.
To be honest, I'm not ready for the conversation and it was (is) somewhat painful for me to discuss it.
Nevertheless, we move forward....
I explained to Seth that he grew in his birth mom's belly.
Grace.
Precious young woman.
We looked at her picture.
He asked to talk to her.
(Someday, I pray)
Then he asked how he got out of her belly.
I told him that he came out of her bottom (not wanting too many details).
He thought about this for a while.
Then he said, "I don't want to come out of her bottom."
Awwww, I naively thought. He wants to come out of mine!
Nope.
Seth: "I want to come out of her mouth!"
Um....
Hahahaha!
So, I had to explain that we ALL are born out of the bottom.
Seth told me that's gross because, you know, poop comes out of there.
Can't argue with that.
I told him that boys and girls poop in one place and girls have a *special* place where babies are born.
That seemed to work.
For now.
Trouble is that he's now asking everyone whose bottom they came out of.
He wanted to know if Leah came out of mine, so I reminded him that we went to Uganda and met her together. He said, "So she has a birff mom too?" Smart boy....
In case my son asks you whose bottom you came out of, just go with it. We're (apparently) learning about birth moms and babies and all of it.
And for what it's worth, I desperately wish I had birthed this precious son of mine.

as a matter of fact he DID ask me if Tritsan came out of my bottom... and I giggled... because I could see the wheels turning...and said "yes"...quickly followed by "well, actually...I had some trouble so they had to go and take him out of my belly" - Seth turned with a puzzled look... so I quickly said... "my bottom, yes, my bottom" LOL
