Seth's Date

It has become painfully obvious lately that Seth needs some quality time with me.
A lot has happened in that wee one's life in the last six months.

New sister.

Mom home for maternity leave and then gone again.

Keith "stealing" time with his mom....

Seth started to act out to get my attention and in one sense, it worked.
I sat up and realized something has got to change!
(or else)

So, after reading the Love Languages for Children, Seth and I packed up and hit a local hotel for the weekend.  We had a room and a water park.
What more could we need?  :)

Bunk beds, of course!
I didn't force Seth to sleep in them, but the novelty was fun.

(The whole idea was to hit all five love languages -- including physical touch.  Let's just say he slept ON me.  When's my vacation???)
The space shuttle pictured was a gift.
From me.
He LOVES it.
(And I must say it is very cool....)

We spent hours playing with it.
Quality Time.
No exaggeration....

After hours at the water park (photos below) we went to Two Toots for lunch.
Seth did a "good job" listening to the rules.  :)
Words of affirmation.

And the water park, well, it was a blast.

Seth was very concerned about the big bucket that would tip and pour cold water, all over your head.
So I served him by watching out for the tippage.  :)
But what he loved most, was the 2 million trips around the lazy river.  :)
(Oh, and he DID try out the green slide in the background.
Um, not so much...)

It was a great date weekend!
Love you, little man.

The best part

I forgot the *best* part about the basement rocket.

(Grandma, prepare to be mortified.)

After it had fallen over about 278 times (not.even.kidding.),
Seth announced,

"Mommy, let's get this crap off the top of the rocket."

Sorry, but I couldn't help but laugh.
Heartily.
Behind his back.

Ah.... he's growing up.

SC and LG

We had some fun at Shana's this weekend.
You never have to twist this girl's arm to color.

Particularly when she has a role model.

But this is the friend that stole her heart.

Paul has some seriously fast cars!
I think Seth was in a trance.
And Leah?  Well, she had to carry all the big girl stuff.
Just like a mama....

 In other news....

There is now a space ship in our basement.

A green one.

 Built for two.

I wasn't sure they were ever coming out.

I'm thankful for water.
Cold, cold water.
And clean water.

I'm thankful for computers to allow me to communicate with friends near and far.

I'm thankful for Shana who has managed to hang around for, oh, about 25 years now.
Love you, girl.

BUT....

People are mean,
but God is good.

People terrorize youth camps, killing dozens,
but God is good.

People are thoughtless in communications,
but God is good.

Parenting can be difficult,
but God is good.

Churches are messed up,
but God is good.

Marriages may fail,
but God is good.

Jobs are work,
but God is good.

Three year olds named Seth may challenge,
but God is good.

Countries may fight,
but God is good.

Children around the world may die,
but God is good.

"Good" people may get hurt,
but God is good.

Things may move too slowly,
but God is good.

Children may disappoint,
but God is good.

Life may overwhelm,
but God is good.

All the time.

BEACH!

We got up today and decided to head to the beach.

First, we had to make a stop at Target.

For sand toys.  :)

On the drive over, Seth had a myriad of questions for me.
Per usual.

We don't do "whys" in our house.

We do "who."

 "Mommy, who did that?"
"Mommy, who gave this to me?"

Or in this case,
"Mommy, who made this rocket?"

Someone at the factory.

Oh.

"Mommy, who put the water in this lake?"
God did that, Seth.
Thank you, Jesus!

"Oh, God did it."

"Hey Mommy, God made my rocket too."

Enter Leah... "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!"

Oh dear.  Apparently, God made the rocket.
Works for me.

While we were at Target, I purchased our first Lunchables.
Ever.

And then I found myself saying, "No icecream unless you finish your Lunchable."

Haha.
There's something wrong with that.
 But it worked!

Thank you, God, for the sun which warms us and provides nutrition.

Thank you for beaches to play and relax.

Thank you for Leah and her wonderful awe of everything Yours.
