End of year Par-TAY

Leah's little school had an end of the year party/graduation for the kiddos last week.
It was total sweetness.
I mean, just LOOK at her!  (sigh)
The kids marched in and then they sang some songs.
Leah was dragging these two by their hands most of the way.
And then she couldn't find me, so she was frantically looking everywhere.
About half way through this song, she shrieked "MOMMY!  I see Mommy!!"
Ah yes.  We are three aren't we?

Seth was in sensory overload and heat tired, so there was lots of this:

And then he cried for ten minutes when I told him he could NOT sing with Leah.
Seriously.  (sigh)
Afterward (and before) we played outside.

In all, it was a lovely evening and I'm a HUGE fan of Glasser Preschool in Oak Park!

Catch up

This might be one of my all-time favorite pictures of my girl.
I don't know.... there is just something I love about it.
Seth came into my room a few nights back (after tuck-ins) and informed me that "the boy" was upset.  Welllll, Seth, do you know what to do when the boy is upset?  "shh shh shh shh."
Ahhhhh, yes.
(Seth returned to bed)
Five minutes later, Seth was back.
This time, he informed me that the boy wanted to snuggle with him.
Fine by me!
(Seth returned to bed)
Two hours later, I found this:
 Awwww, SUCH a good daddy!!!

And yes.  Leah has become a photographer.  :)

Heard Around our 'Hood

Four year olds have quite a lot to say, I've learned.  And Seth has had some doozies of late.

After Eryn died, we talked about how she was with Jesus.
Dancing.  :-)

A couple of days later, we were in the car when Seth said, "Mom, is Eryn in my heart?"
(Um, not sure what to make of that one.)
What, dear?
"Well, Jesus is in my heart, right?"
Yes, I pray so.
"And you said Eryn is with Jesus, so is Eryn in my heart?"
(sigh)
Yes, Eryn is with Jesus.
(See how I dodged that one???)

Then there was the time that I told Seth that my heart was broken.
"Did Jesus get hurt, mom?"
What?
"When your heart got broken; did Jesus get hurt?"
(oh dear)

Last week, I was exhausted from work and other life "stuff" when I asked Seth what he wanted for dinner.  I was literally hoping he would say "icecream" because I was prepared to give into it and have icecream for our entire dinner.  (Don't judge)
Instead, Seth declared, "Broccoli, white fish and rice."
And so it was.

Seth also (apparently) believes that any child who he enjoys might just need a mom.  At church on Sunday, he was asking if every boy he saw needs a mom.
"Mom, he doesn't have a mommy?"
"Mom, he needs a mommy?"
Apparently, my son would like a brother.
Ya think??

Then there was Leah who, when asked how old she is, thought about it, paused and said, "Well, I'm not SIX."
True that, my dear.  True that.

Last, we had a particularly nice dinner on Sunday when Seth refused to put on ANY clothing to eat.  I think 90 degrees must be his clothing limit.
Oh well.
We fight on.....

Mother's Day Q&A

Another fun Mother's Day treat was that Seth's school did interviews of the kids and provided the Q &A.  Here are some of my favorites:

Your favorite color?  Blue
I was surprised.  Note to self....

Mommy's favorite color?  Pink
Hmm.  Are we being stereotypical here???

Mommy's favorite food?  Rice
Pure projection on that one.  :)

And, my personal favorite....
Mommy's favorite store?  the Grocery Store
I mean, of course.  Why wouldn't it be?

Will be fun to see the change in those answers next year!

Mother's Day 2012

My babies really went all out this year.  Helps when the nanny is "on board" and when they are both in school.
Friday, I got home and Seth was SO excited to show me "things."
He demanded that I remain on the back deck and close my eyes.
Seth and Leah presented me with some cookies they made.
Yum!
Then, Seth went to get more surprises until Debbie suggested that going in might be a bit better.
There, they presented me with flowers.... from the store and home made!
Sweet!

Last, and best of all, they made me some cards with their hand prints on them.
Love....
What a precious keep sake.

So happy to be a mommy and SO happy it's to these two ragamuffins.
I'm also just touched by how awesome they are to one another.
Best friends for sure.... <3

Last weekend we had the first annual (for us) Cupcake Sale to benefit Sixty Feet.
The Sixty Feet crew (a great group of couples from the Atlanta area) had the wonderful idea to encourage cupcake sales around the world.  What fun to serve with our kiddos!!
Calvary Memorial Church participated this year and it was SO much fun!
Here's a peak at the fun.

 BUSTED!!!

That's what I'm talking about, Mama....

 Busted, part deux

It was a GREAT day.  We raised $805 for Sixty Feet.  YAY!!!
That was, until the end, when this Mama engaged in a little "sweep the leg" of her princess, resulting in the biggest forehead-meet-concrete bump I ever did see.
And then she slept for the next four hours....
Sigh.
But she's fine.  Bump and all.  :-)
Until next year.....
