As I thought about my 40th birthday coming up, there wasn't anything "special" that I really wanted to do (other than the family Disney extravaganza last month). So, I was chatting with my friend Rene one day when she said she would consider coming up. Yay! I jumped at the opportunity to spend a weekend with her and up she came from Ft. Lauderdale. Soooo great.
On Saturday, we went to dinner with Katie. Just the three of us. It was perfect. We talked about e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. under the sun. From kids to marriages to careers to travel to politics (yes, even that) to church and faith and everything in between. It was a beautiful and intimate evening of time with two of my best buds and I was truly blessed. I know I have some special time coming up with other special friends and I cannot wait. But for now, here's to Rene and Katie. I love you both more than you could ever imagine. Thank you for challenging me and strengthening me and mentoring me. You rock.
